The Allen-Bradley 1771-AF Fiber-Optic Converter Module is designed to enable Data Highway Plus (DH+) and Remote I/O signals to be transmitted over fiber-optic cables. This allows communication through electrically noisy environments with improved signal integrity. The module converts twinax electrical signals into light for fiber-optic transmission and then back to electrical signals for twinax networks. Supporting communication speeds of 57,600 and 115,200 bit/s, it operates with a current load of 600 mA and fits into a single slot of a 1771 I/O chassis, making it ideal for extending PLC-5 system connectivity over long distances.
